TRINITAS HOSPITAL LAUNCHES INNOVATIVE 全ENIORS FIRST' PROGRAM
Comprehensive Health Care For Older Adults
ELIZABETH, NJ September 22 2003T--Trinitas Hospital has announced the launching of an innovative health care program for senior citizens and their families. "Seniors First" is designed for individuals 65 years old and over, and completes the hospital's program of full-service medical care that addresses the physical, psychological, emotional and lifestyle needs of the older adult.
"We have a very large senior citizen population in Elizabeth, and our goal at Trinitas Hospital is to help seniors live a full and productive life for as long as possible," says Gary S. Horan, FACHE, President and Chief Executive Officer. "We also believe that caring for seniors requires special knowledge, advanced skills and a unique environment. As such, we have created a program of unparalleled services geared towards older adults."
The comprehensive 全eniors First' program is designed to include every aspect of a senior's medical care, and all seniors receive comprehensive assessment and planning services to determine their full medical needs. Other components of the program include physician referral, physician home visits, day care services, long term care and caregiver support services (including respite care, support groups and a telephone support line). The program also encompasses the hospital's acclaimed outpatient services, including the Center for Wound Healing and Hyperbaric Medicine, the Diabetes Management Center, Oncology Services, Geropsychiatry Services, Renal Services and Cardiac Care. With the addition of emergency angioplasty, Trinitas Hospital's cardiac services are now among the most comprehensive in the region, and are staffed by the area's largest team of board-certified cardiologists, an experienced cardiovascular nursing staff, and specially-trained cardiac technicians.
For patients who need to be hospitalized, Seniors First offers the Acute Care for the Elderly (ACE) nursing unit, a 15-bed unit devoted exclusively to the care and treatment of patients over the age of 65. The unit's staff includes specially trained and board-certified geriatric physicians, senior nurse practitioners, physical/occupational/speech therapists, social workers/case managers, dieticians and a highly skilled nursing staff. In addition to the multi-disciplinary team, physicians representing nearly every specialty are readily available for consultation.
"Our state-of-the-art equipment and programs, coupled with an expert staff, ensure that older adults and their families receive the first class medical care, attention and service they deserve," says Mr. Horan. "And our comprehensive 全eniors First' program means that seniors receive all their medical care right in their neighborhood."
Preventive programs are also offered through the 全eniors First' program, including physical fitness programs, nutritional guidance and healthy eating programs, walking clubs and smoking cessation classes. Free health screenings are provided, including blood pressure, blood glucose, and breast, cervical and prostate cancer testing, as well as classes and lectures on medical and social issues.
In addition to the program's comprehensive medical services, the Seniors First program also includes a membership rewards component. For a nominal fee, members can receive priority admissions, free valet parking, discounts in the Trinitas coffee shop and gift shop, discounts in the Trinitas fitness center, a free Seniors First gift bag and other membership perks.
